Drone Wars is a futuristic looking slot with a theme that focuses on various space drones, ships and weapons. The reels area looks like it's a window that allows you to see out into space from the inside of the ship. The surrounding area looks like it's made out of blue metal, and that applies to the betting options as well. The design of the symbols is a bit cartoonish and there are very vivid colors used in contrast with the black of space that is visible behind them. The majority of the color focuses on yellow/orange/red. Playing cards are there (10 to A), along with the Scatters black hole, the ray gun, the rocket ship, the blue drone, the energy source and two pilots.
The game has a total of 25 bet lines that you can select, with 1 to 25 being the range you can work with. Each line will get its own bet made out of 1 to 20 coins, for a maximum possible of 500 coins. Denominations start at $0.01 and can go to $0.20, where the maximum bet would be worth $100. The payouts available multiply the top payout of 1000x with the line wager, so up to $4,000 can be won.
The energy source is the wild icon and it can substitute for other symbols, the usual exception being a scatter. It's a pretty typical feature and as is usually the case it also awards the top jackpot (the same happens with a combo of drone symbols).
The scatter symbol will appear on any of the five reels but you need only three in order to get the Battle Plan round going. Here you have to choose either the Planetary Assault or the Space Attack path. The Space Attack consists of 5 spins awarded for free and wild symbols will appear as the drone fighters attack their targets and destroy them. The Planetary Assault feature gives the player the chance to destroy the drones and he is the one selecting the targets. The payouts will go up to 50x the total bet.
This is a cool slot! Fans of sci-fi adventure or action flicks will be drawn to it for those reasons alone but when you add in usual mix of free spins and wilds, it gets that much better!
