The Highlands are the lands of Scotland, the mountainous areas where some of the bravest warriors of this country were born. The focus here is on those lands, and on the brave warriors that lived there during the Medieval times. The main character bears a resemblance to the Braveheart character from the movie with the same name. The game's background shows us some palisades with watch towers, probably fortifications used during those times by the Scottish people. The reels use a type of brown as the background for the symbols, and it's a choice that does quite well with the images used as icons. The game uses a number of card symbols for the lower paying part of the paytable, and they are somewhat designed to fit with the rest of the theme. The other symbols included in Highlands give us the Scottish Warrior, a redheaded princess, a blonde girl, another warrior, a helmet, arrows, shield, backpack and the British Crown.

The game uses up to 10 coins in wagers, for each of the 25 lines. With coin values going up to $0.20, the maximum game bet is $50. The game's jackpot is a 8000x line bet multiple, so a maximum of $16,000 may be won by players.

The wild symbol is responsible for the big prize being awarded, and it does that by giving it when an entire active payline is occupied only with Scottish warriors.
